The Joy Of Joining An Antique Auto Club

By David Wright

Individuals often have different tastes when it comes to the year, model and style of an automobile. In some cases, people love to collect antique, classic and vintage cars. As a result, the antique auto club of America was created in 1935. After which, while having been successful up until World War II, the organization saw a brief struggle during the war, then bounced back rather quickly.

Since the beginning, the auto club has primarily focused attention on collectors and antique vehicles. For, most members feel these cars provide a feel, sound and sight which can be found nowhere else. Whether feeling the thrill and thumping of a big block engine, clatter of cylinder brass or rumble of an antique motorcycle, driving one of these vintage vehicles is generally the only way to do so.

Collectors and enthusiasts often provide similar answers when asked how one became interested in classic and vintage automobiles. In most cases, people suggest there is just something which captures attention and attraction that is rather hard to define. In most cases, people whom are attracted to, or collect classic or vintage cars tend to focus on a specific era of the past.

The mission of the organization is the preservation and enjoyment of history related to all types of automobiles. Whereas, the organization also works to bring enthusiasts together at a number of regional and national events each year. These events often include, meet-ups, shows and contests, most often at different types of festivals. In addition, the club produces a magazine which features over 100 pages with pictures, history and information on different models.

While the war was definitely a hardship on the hobby, collectors were steadfast and overcame numerous struggles during that time. In fact, the dedication to the car club during that time often matched the dedication given to the war. Whereas, while the club saw some difficulties, disturbances and uncertainties, it eventually returned and grew into the amazing organization it is today.

Since that time, the organization has become stronger and better with millions of members. As such, individuals can rest assured that the club will be around well into the future. For, without the assistance of the organization in planning regional, national and local events, a number of car enthusiasts would be left without a map to one of the most enjoyable activities in life, the collecting of classic and vintage automobiles.

The organization's website features different sections with pictures of cars from different eras. It should be noted that an individual does not need to own an antique, classic or vintage car to become a member or involved with the organization. For, there are numerous ways in which individuals can be part of the club whether through judging car shows, researching cars or attending one of the meet-ups or tours as a spectator.

While most individuals think that these type of clubs are extremely expensive, nothing could be further from the truth when it comes to America's organization. For, the annual membership fee is often less than a tank of gas. As such, the amount of fun an individual can have as a member often far outweighs the cost of membership.
