Riding High With A Motorcycle License

By Maria Long

The image of the knight or a cowboy on horseback is prevalent. It so prevalent that fantasies and westerns continue to permeate pop culture to this day. But horses replaced cars as the preferred means of transportation. But cars do not have the same effect a horse has, a car does not allow the hero to be silhouetted against the sun. But horses have no place on modern roads. To compromise, there is the motorcycle, a two wheeled and open vehicle that allows an individual to still use motorized wheels while also looking sick as hell. But operating one requires a license, or an endorsement. A motorcycle license Indiana is needed.

To legally operate an automobile, a person must have certification. In the same vein, to operate a motorcycle, a person should be certified for it as well. Now, the state in reference does not have a distinct certification to operate a motorbike, but will instead provide an endorsement to an existing license declaring the individual in question is fully capable of operating a motorcycle.

Now, a car is different from a motorcycle. The principles may be the same and both driver and rider may be subject to the same traffic laws. But in the end, a bike is a different beast entirely. As such, it takes a completely different skill set is required to operate one.

The DMV, or the Department of Motor Vehicles, is where people get licenses. People go there to fill out forms, take tests, and wait in line. Once all that is done, an individual can be issued a license.

To qualify for accreditation, a person has to be of a certain age, sixteen in some places, seventeen in others. In some jurisdictions, the minimum age requirement is eighteen. Other than the age, there has to be a test that is taken, generally to make sure that someone is cognizant of traffic laws. Finally, there is a practical examination, where a person must prove their competence.

Now, getting a license is required because operating a car or a bike or a truck without one is illegal. Doing anything illegal can result in criminal prosecution, like jail time or a fine. It should also be noted that there are times that a person may have to produce proof of identity, and a license will be more than sufficient for those times.

Motorcycles are fast. Very fast. They are much smaller than cars, allowing them to weave in and out of traffic more effectively, provided the rider knows what they are doing. They are smaller than automobiles, with even the most compact hatchbacks still being significantly larger, and as such, are more easily stored.

There are many types of bike to choose from. Scooters are more economical and can zip from point A to point B quickly. Choppers, pr hogs, are big, brash, and bold. Sport bikes are performance engineered machines.

Human legs are great for travelling long distances. But humanity has innovated enough that they do not need to be put under such strain. But operation of motorbikes should only be done once properly accredited to do so.
