Different Kinds Of Commercial Licenses For Driver And Its Difference

By Amy Stewart

Being a driver as a profession does not always mean being able to control any car as long as one knows how to do it. Because it is so obvious that roads have been of of those places where accidents commonly happen, there have been quite lot of things that needs to get considered before being able to drive any vehicles. One of which is the license, this is a mere proof that one is responsible enough and is capable of making safe decision on roads. However, for those individuals who are driving commercial trucks for their job, they need to get a special type of license and training because those vehicles are harder to manipulate than that of typical ones. CDL driver training is one way to possibly gain that license they need to do their jobs.

The reason why they need to do this requirement is because it is stated on the the federal law that drivers of such kind are in need to have their own set of license. This could possibly be due to the reason that it is quite harder to operate this trucks. In addition, compared to other ones, this is even more risky not just for drivers but for the pedestrians on streets too.

There are three classifications of licenses meant for them. These classifications would define what are thy type of trucks they could drive and some description of their scopes as a driver. There are also different requirements so they may possibly get one of those and to make sure that those who are in plan to go get one knows the difference, it will be explained below.

The first one is the Class A CDL which would allow and require drivers to operate those trucks that has a combination weight of twenty six thousand pounds and more. The description would include the vehicles they can tow which may be heavier than ten thousand pounds. Some example of which are, tractor trailers, double and triple trailers, tanker vehicles and more.

They also have the special capability to operate those vehicle that the rest of the classes can. This is given the fact where they have the right endorsement that allows them to do so. Out of the three, this is quite obvious that this one is most likely the most efficient one since almost all truck types is supported by this license.

Those class b licenses are only allowed to manipulate single vehicles. The mass though is pretty similar with the one that is mentioned earlier. So basically, the drivers could drive box trucks, delivery truck as well as couriers. They also have the ability to drive the class c vehicles with the endorsement, of course.

On the contrary, class c licenses would only be needed if the vehicles to be operated do not meet the requirements of the other two license type. This is also applicable for those means of transportation that can carry sixteen people including the driver. And those which are carrying materials that may be hazardous as what the federal guidelines have stated.

The list of the hazardous materials being referred to are stated on the federal guidelines. Passenger vans are the perfect examples of vehicles this can support. Any of those automobile types that are stated under the other two licenses could never be manipulate by this class and there is no endorsement to possibly done that.

For the endorsement needs, there are codes drivers may need so they would have it. They would as well need to undergo some tests that would prove their suitability. And to gain more information regarding this endorsements, reviewing the federal guidelines about it would be of help.
